Lagos PSSDC committed to deepening collaboration on research and development

 Lagos State Public Service Staff Development Centre (PSSDC) is irrevocably committed to deepening collaborative efforts on research, learning, training, development and human capacity building with best of breed institutions in line with its institutional object to establish strategic partnerships with and act as regional learning and development partner for other national and international agencies. 

Acting Director-General, PSSDC, Mr. Olushola Ayodele Kolawole made this known in his goodwill address at the 2022 Conference of International Association of Research Scholars and Administrators (IARSA) and the Inauguration and Launching of its Centre for Education Research and Economic Policy (CEREP) recently at LCCI Conference and Exhibition Centre, Alausa, Ikeja. 

Kolawole said that the inauguration and launching of CEREP, an institute dedicated to the promotion of education, research and economic policy issues by IARSA is a salutary step in the right direction and expressed conviction that the addition to the institutional strengthening for educational and policy research in Nigeria through IARSA would, in not too  distant future, become a hub and veritable centre providing solutions to many challenges facing organisations and governments locally and internationally. 

Emphasising the value of research in national development, he opined that the capacity to think critically, reflect and review is a sure pointer to the enhancement of growth and development in Lagos State and the country as a whole. 

In her keynote remarks, Lagos State Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Folashade Adefisayo congratulated IARSA on its conference and particularly its effort at deepening research scholarship and administration; adding that the required filip for development can only be achieved through focused research and technology. 

While enumerating the impact of the technological reforms of the State Government in educational development, she charged academic researchers to rise to the challenge of bridging the gap between “town and gown” with a view to making the results of research fit for the purpose of user organisations. 

Earlier, in his welcome address, President of International Association of Research Scholars and Administrators (IARSA), Dr. Baba Yusuf Musa said the Y2202 Conference of IARSA was scheduled to cover four distinct activities including, the Inauguration of  the Centre for Education Research and Economic Policy (CEREP); the inauguration of College of Fellows (COFs), Fellowship Committee (FelCom) & Researchers ‘Worldwide Networks Committee (RWNC); the debut of the IARSA Journal, which has been named International Journal of Research Scholars and Administrators (IJRSA) & inauguration of its Editorial Board; Member Recertification and Presentation of Certificates to Members of the Institute. 

Musa noted that the choice of Lagos as venue for the conference was strategic, having been the nerve-centre of the Nigeria economy and providing enabling environment for businesses to flourish. He therefore, encouraged the young researchers and qualified candidates to join IARSA so as to enjoy from the wealth of experience of eminent academics and subject matter experts and become a part of the vanguard at the cutting-edge of intellectual leadership in research and innovation.
